Team Giving: Proofreader

We are seeking the assistance of a volunteer to proofread written copy, including website content, board materials, funding requests, blogs, and more. At Team Giving we work to match volunteers with nonprofit organizations according to their time, skills, and passion. We promote a culture of philanthropy which supports nonprofits addressing vital needs in our community. In order to best involve our community with our work, we would like to increase the quality, quantity, and consistency of our communications.

Skills & Qualifications: This position is perfect for individuals who are highly detail-oriented with strong writing skills and a desire to assist the nonprofit community, such as a university English professor. Volunteers must be over 18 and have the following qualifications:

  • a college degree in English or related field
  • experience with copy-editing and/or teaching writing in a professional capacity
  • exquisite grasp of the English language, grammar, and effective story-telling
  • ability to meet deadlines and communicate clearly

Time Commitment & Expectation: This volunteer would be expected to assist with approximately 1-3 hours of work each week. Workload will vary based upon Team Giving seasonal activities. This position may be done remotely from home, with training and orientation provided in office or virtually. Interested volunteers should be able and willing to assist for a period of at least 3 consecutive months.

Upon expressing interest, volunteers should be prepared to send a resume and writing sample to Team Giving staff.
